It appears that this bear is a cub and belongs to the Baribal species. In the neighborhood of my tribe, there are not many of them. There are quiet a few of them further away though, maybe it's from there. This species lives in forests and next to rivers, because they like fish. Hopefully there are many fishes, enough for everybody. But they mainly eat insects, honey and fruit, all depending on the season. Can you pick some blueberries? They also like blueberries, it's one of their favorite delicacies.
Finish
Ok! Now let's visit my village. I have something that can prevent the suffering of a young bear.

Waupee's friend: We are looking for horses which we know can endure a long journey. The sooner we get to our destination, the better. My gut tells me that is where the bear is from. I hope I'm wrong. When I was younger, I raised a young black bear. I called it "White Claw".
Finish
Waupee's friend: I hope we captured horses that belong to my tribe. If not, we'll have to come back before our guests leave. Our first stop will be at a cornfield.

Waupees friend: I've seen "White Claw" and three young bears recently myself. Those are very rare here. We should make sure that each of them survived and lives with its mother. There is one bear in the bushes over there. We have to catch it.
Finish
Waupee's friend: Nothing attracts a young bear more than food, especially if they are hungry. We should look for "White Claw". It is supposed to be somewhere around here. Hmm... Oh look, Maya is here too! You should talk to her.

Start
I was curious and inspected the farm and now I find out that you've got your own small trophy. Unfortunately, there are no more bears in the neighborhood. I was asking around in town and someone had seen a colorful wagon. There are rumors that a circus had sent out people to capture animals and they've succeeded in part. You have to check it out. That's a good lead.
Finish
We found the wagon. It shows a fake painting of the Pony Express. It seems to hold several cages. We even know the name of one of the animal catchers. It's Timpy Fill. He is in charge of delivering the animals to the circus. We don't know his associate, but there are talks that he lives here.

Start
You notice several animal catchers sitting around a table next to the bar. They seem to have fun. You approach them, introduce yourself and ask if you could join them. After a few minutes of sweet-talking, you gain their trust. They believe you are here for the hunt as well. Now you may be able to get more information. It turns out that the second foreman's name is Tom Kava. Waupee has a plan. You have to help him with that.
Finish
You and Waupee sat down and played some cards with your new “friends” tonight. After all of them fell asleep, Waupee started to carry out his plan. He was very quiet so that nobody wakes up. By pretending to feed horses, he opened the door of the wagon and noticed a wolf cub cowering in a corner. He released it and it ran away into a dark forest.

Finish
Unfortunately, we lost the track of the grizzly. Let's get back to the village. We need to rest some before tomorrow. I'll watch over the little one. Isn't he cute? We should be glad that it's not afraid of us anymore.

Finish
Waupee's friend: So, you saw something near the fence? A bear that ran off towards a well-hidden cave? Maybe its den? Might well be you found our young one's mother.

Ha! We did a good thing today. We reunited a little bear cub with its mother! And they looked so happy, dancing around each other, and sniffing each other! I think I even saw them wiggle their tails! Now, can we go back to the village? What a legendary, epic tale. Bears are such great, amazing animals.
Finish
"White Claw" wasn't even afraid of us. We kept our distance, of course, crouching on our bellies and looking at the delighted family. And then, the mother pushed her pup a little towards us... What do you think of that? As if she remembered me and knew we were good people, right?

Waupee's friend: We have to return the horses to the tribe of Singing Water. Seems we actually took two of their horses... But they didn't take it amiss. We know they will come and visit our village again. We spent some good times with them. Oh, and we also found two more bear cubs... we named them "Blue Eyes" and "Gray Shadow". We named all the little bears. Now, let's smoke a calumet.
Finish
Waupee and his friend tell you a lot about bears, for example that they sleep in the winter for many months without eating or drinking. After a while, someone from the tribe of Singing Water comes to speak with you. The only thing left now is to return the horses.

Dealing with duties

Quest Giver Access requirements Requires Reward
Maya Roalstad.png

Start
Maya and her cousin greet you. They think that after what you did, you deserve to get a prize. I am sorry, but we don't have a lot of money. But maybe we can find something on my cousin's the attic. Our uncle was a trapper. He might have left something useful. Too bad we couldn't find the mother of one of the cubs. My cousin will raise it on her farm. After a couple of months, she will release it back to the wild. Hopefully everything will be ok.
Finish
After two hours, Maya's cousin returns. She has found some old trinkets, real antiques. But maybe still useful. A knife to make trophies and an old gun. She smiles and hands them over to you. "Take these, I have no use for them anyways. But I think they are fine treasures, no?" Don't you love happy endings!
