After riding for days through the lonesome prairie you see smoke rising up behind the next hill. You take another look at the map, make sure that this is Pete's farm and put spurs to your horse. Upon your arrival, all you see is some Indians riding away in the distance. The farm is on fire, but much to your relief the family doesn't seem to be in the house. You better start extinguishing that fire, but where will you get the water?

Pete:Thank you for your help! I couldn't have done it alone and we would have lost our farm. Now we even have an irrigation system for our crops. I wanted to build one for a long time but I never found the time. But come on, let's talk down at the river, it is cool and shady there.

Start
What was that? A noise behind the house wakes you up! You grab your gun and sneak to the window. There! A shadow creeps around the corner... Slowly, you open the window, climb out and sneak after the shadow. At the corner you wait for a moment and see a young Indian hiding behind a water barrel. You know that you could overwhelm him, but you would need a rope to tie him up.

After you have overwhelmed him and tied him up, you try to interrogate him. You don't get much from him though, only that his name is Stranger and he is half Indian.

Since the interrogation was not successful, you take him with you to his village to parley with the Indians.

The negotiations with the Indians went pretty well. The chief has promised to leave the farm alone if Pete Cunningham stops hunting in their sacred woods. They believe that the spirits of their ancestors live on in the animals of those woods. You bid your farewell and go back to the farm. Only the medicine man worries you a bit, he watches you the whole time and you have seen him whispering to Stranger, who appears to be the chief's son, some times.

As soon as you leave the village, the medicine man starts screaming weird chants and starts running towards you with his tomahawk in hand.

You barely made it, but finally you overwhelm the medicine man. The chief apologizes to you, seemingly the medicine man is hostile and does not listen to the chief anymore.

With the good news of peace you return to the farm when suddenly Stranger jumps out of his hiding place, screaming. You start to fight.

You could barely defeat Stranger and now have the sad duty to bring his lifeless body back to his father.

Start
The chief is heartbroken that his only son has died. After you have explained how it happened the chief understands you and asks you to help him bury his son and the medicine man.
Finish
After burying the dead Sioux, the chief once again promises that they will leave the farmers alone as long as they don't go hunting in their woods again. You can now return to Pete with the good news.

After your arrival you explain to Pete and his wife what happened and why the Indians kept on attacking him. Before you ride home, the Cunninghams invite you to celebrate the peace in the prairie. Unfortunately they ran out of food and drink, so it is up to you to gather some.

Only the kids are still alive, hiding down at the river. They need someone to bring them to their uncle or at least the nearest town. They are counting on you!

You arrive at the farm but all you see are the smoking ruins of a burnt down house. You slowly walk around and curse yourself for not being faster. Where did the Sheriff say the children were hiding again?

Just before you wanted to give up you see a little boy hiding behind a tree. You unmount your horse and walk closer. After you win his trust, he shows you the hiding place of the children down at the river.

Adam Cunningham, the oldest son of the family tells you what had happened. He tells you how the Indians burnt down the house and how his parents died defending the children. You want to have a closer look at the house and ask Adam to come with you. Upon a closer look you find the corpses of the Cunninghams. They should be buried.

The testament states that Harper Cunningham's brother, Scott Williams should take care of the children in the event of death. Strange that none of the children has mentioned him so far. There is also a deed for a piece of land near Scott Williams' farm. You should go there with the kids, but you need some rations for that.
